Australians don’t really have drive-thrus. Not like in America.
No drive thru coffee carts. No drive thru dry cleaners, banks or mailboxes. And not really even many drive thru fast food places.
Ah, but across the great nation you will find many, many of these:

Drive thru liquor stores.

Me thinks you spend too much time in the inner city area Emily.
As a wise old adman once said to me, every now and then you need to get out and spend time with the TARPS.
There’s a drive thru bottle shop not far from me. In the morning when it is shut there is a coffee stand there. It sells a million coffees a year!
As for a drive thru mailbox….Hmmm!?

The concept amazed me when I first came to Oz in ‘87 and in the age of the Responsible Service of Alcohol it amazes me even more today. Hard to find a drive thru coffee to help stay awake behind the wheel but hey, fancy a beer?

Stig, you really should not drink and drive … you might spill your beer (I mean coffee).

Hmmm- drive through is alive and well in Oz. At Westfield Bondi Junction they provided a drive through gift card sevice. There are quite a number of drive through dry cleaners (one on Botany Road comes to mind).

It is because of these drive through “Bottleos” and the wonderful beverages that they provide, that Australians have the patience to get out of their cars and physically take their dry cleaning into the store and visit a bank. Also, walking helps us to sober up.
Now if we could just build drive thru TAB’s and Dole offices a large percentage of this nation would never have to leave their cars.
